The School of Communication + Journalism (SCJ) at Florida International University is pleased to announce our second annual Career and Internship Fair taking place on March 6, 2019. In addition to the tabling event, students will also be able to hear directly from industry professionals about how to get best prepared for the next steps in their career trajectory. To prepare for these opportunities, the SCJ will be offering two Boot Camps for students to update their resumes, prepare their elevator pitch and practice responses to interview questions. These events are open to all current SCJ students and SCJ alumni. See details below about each event and sign-up!

Wolfe University Center Ballrooms, Biscayne Bay Campus

The SCJ Career and Internship Fair is the perfect opportunity for current SCJ students and SCJ alumni to meet and engage with potential employers in your field. Employers will be recruiting for full-time and part-time positions as well as internships. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to network with representatives from top organizations looking to hire SCJ scholars! Last year’s event brought in organizations from across the industry including CNN, Oath Media, Tronc (now Tribune Publishing), BODEN Agency, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, O&G Public Relations, Yelp, Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, Nevarez PR, and Infinite Source Communications Group, to name a few!

This exclusive event is only for students currently majoring in one of our SCJ programs or alumni that graduated from our programs. Pre-registration is required to attend this year’s event. Before our Career and Internship Fair kicks off at 1:00p.m., SCJ will be bringing current and former students together with industry professionals during our Industry Professionals Panel. Industry leaders in Advertising, Broadcasting, Digital Media, Journalism and Public Relations will be in attendance to answer your questions in a panel style question and answer format. School of Communication + Journalism Boot Camps

Finally, to gear up for the upcoming SCJ Career and Internship Fair, and fuel your career development, we are offering two opportunities to work with SCJ faculty and other employment experts to help you prepare your elevator pitch, responses to key interview questions, create a new resume and/or polish your current resume and cover letters. Professor John Sotham and Junior Account Executive Sarah Hernandez will lead our sessions joined by other SCJ faculty and staff. There will be two sessions, one at each campus, and the sessions will include an overview of important topics and the opportunity to work on-on-one with a career expert.
